I have a 50 amp cord that we use at camp grounds but thought I might be able to use reducer during day before at the house to cool fridge down? Can I use 50amp cord with reducer on our house hold plug? If this works will save me a electrician bill installing a 50amp plug at the house , I turn battery switch off when not in use so not worried about that part just wondering if I could save the propane usage during our cool down of fridge day before..
Disconnect the fridge plug and attach it to the extension cord. This will run the fridge with out the extra phantom loads through the RV. I plugged into 15 amps several times during my Alaska trip this year. You will not be able to use the AC, but should work well for the refrig.
I use one and it works fine branson ,

My RV has Amp connections. Is there a way to hook up to use Amp service? What do I need to do and will everything work properly? The short answer is yes, but first you need to have an adapter so you can physically plug in to the Amp outlet. Once you have the adapter, you should be able to use all your appliances — just not at the same time. You will have to manage your power usage, and be particularly aware at appliance start-up, when things like the microwave and air conditioner tend to draw more power than they do once they are up and running.
For instance, on Amps, we may run our refrigerator and air conditioner at the same time but will refrain from using the microwave until the air conditioner is off. Or you might opt for running your refrigerator on propane and you will still have enough power leftover for running your air conditioner and microwave at the same time. Different RVs will have different wiring schematics, so you may have to experiment.
As a general guideline, an air conditioner might use Amps, a microwave Amps larger convection microwave 13 Amps and the fridge Amps. Appliances with heating elements hair dryer, toaster, coffeemaker, etc. Electric heaters are another big draw.

Tired of lugging an extra propane tank around just for your BBQ? Which one you choose depends on whether your BBQ has a pressure regulator or not. Typically, most BBQs will have a pressure regulator so you can connect the supply hose to the RV either way, that is, directly to the propane tank or after the the RV pressure regulator.
If your BBQ does not have a regulator, then you must connect your supply hose to the low pressure side of the RV propane distribution hose or pipe. This is done by inserting a tee in to the supply line and fitting a quick disconnect valve to the tee. Then you fit a quick disconnect male fitting to the end of the BBQ supply hose and connect the hose to the quick disconnect valve. What RV Adapters Do I Need For My RV?
We will get to that later. The first things you are going to accumulate are the necessities to make the ladies happy—water and power when you finally get settled in a nice camping spot in an RV park. We will talk about boondocking later on. Most RVs come with a foot power cable, but occasionally it is not long enough to get to the RV park power post.

You can ask an RV question here. Do you have questions about Recreation Vehicles, Camping or the RV Lifestyle. We will give you the answers to those questions.
Polk Somebody recently asked me what I enjoyed the most about RVing. It didn’t take long for me to respond that it was the people you meet at the campground. I don’t know of anywhere else that you can meet complete strangers and within a couple of hours feel as if you’ve known them forever. People at campgrounds are some of the friendliest most helpful people you will ever meet. I have seen it time and again when a camper pulls in and they are having problems with something and their next door neighbor, whom they never met, is right there to assist them.
I have also observed and assisted several campers who were new to RVing and not really sure how to set their unit up when they arrive at the campground. While talking to these new Rvers it came up more than once how they wished that they had a checklist to follow to make things easier. However most RVs do have many things in common and that is what we will concentrate on.
The purpose of this checklist is to provide a basic system of what to do when you arrive at your site. Use only the items that apply to your RV and feel free to tailor the list to your needs. Pop Ups see separate checklist If you are in a motor home and are towing a vehicle you may want to disconnect the vehicle in the campground registration parking lot before going to your site. Have someone drive the vehicle in front of you to assist in locating your site.

This is about electric space heaters and how dangerous they can be if not used correctly. Be sure to answer the poll at the bottom of this story where we ask about whether you do or do not use a space heater in your RV. The fire inspector is still investigating the exact cause, but her co-workers said she used electric space heaters extensively in her house. She must have had a few close calls small fires?
Are electric space heaters really dangerous? Space heaters can be a quick way to heat up a room. However, they can be as dangerous as they are convenient if used improperly. Approximately one-third of all house fires nationwide happen during the cold home-heating months between December and February.
